reving at 4.5k in 5th the revs wont go any higher and seems to be making a lot of noise from the turbo think the actuator is a bit fecked opinions?

Is the noise similar to marbles in a tin?

What fuel are you using?

Is the ignition system all good ? ie plugs, leads, dizzy cap & rotor arm, ht leads, tdc sensor & the aei itself ?

Then look at the fuelling. Is the carb alright ? Is the pump still giving a good supply ? Check this whilst driving as it should be 3-4 psi above boost pressure. Change the fuel filter too, may have a clogged filter.

Some more info would help with the diagnosis...:smokin:

has a cone filter on it and its clean, fuel is the high octane stuff, doesnt sound like marbles in a tin just like its boosting more but a lot more, fuel pressure to the carb i assume your talking about?

Fuel pressure to carb indeed.

Are you having any misfiring or hesitation ?

just started randomly giving a misfire checked leads and coil everything is fine, fuel pressure to carb should be between 5 - 12 psi as its a carb,

maybe 4.5-5k in 5th is where the aerodynamic drag is more than the power of the engine?

i remember my ex's clio 182 sat at 141mph for a fair few miles, and wouldn't go any faster at all

be carefull. that funny noise you can hear might be detonation.

Maybe only a dirty fuel filter.

what boost are you running?

overboost sensor disconnected? make sure they're taped out of the way :)

Its located in the turbo to intercooler hose. :agree:

Does it rev/boost ok in all other gears without a cut and big backfire? if so its not the boost cut.. you need to check fuel pressure imo as i guess your on a long hauling pull that this happens stating the gear your in.

Or if you getting any missfires around peak torq aswell and also does this in lower gears at a short lenght of pull, maybe check ign...

the actuator will only hold what it'll hold. However your test with the vac pipe shows that the turbo is capable of making more boost as the wastegate is not being forced open by the exhaust gas pressure!! Therfore as Andy says if thats true then the problem lies with the controller as for some reason it is letting the boost pressure through to the actuator before you reach your set cracking pressure.
