This is my sh!t box for running around in Oz. It's a 1990 (KE) Ford Laser Estate 1.6 Auto and has been giving me some gip recently. It's basically a Mazda 323 rebadged Ford for Oz.
It has a 1.6 Carb fed OHC engine and at the moment just won't play the game. The systoms are as follows:
-Start the car fine, drive for about a mile and then it will cut out, almost like it's run out of fuel.
-Car restarts fine but, will cut out as soon as the throttle is applied.
-I rebuilt the carb and it seemed to cure the problem for about 6 months then the same thing happen again the other day.
-So far I have changed the Dizzy, the Coil, the Fuel filter, the Carb complete, the fuel pump, blown out the fuel lines and fuel pick up strainer. It's got a good spark and when I pull the fuel line off the carb and trun it over it chucks out a good amount of fuel.
-Vacuum lines seem to be good too as it will rev cleanly for a few seconds then die?
Any one got any experience with these cars/engines or think i've missed anything?
