are these "universal" as in you could direct the beam as you like by moving the projector thingy about so that it could be used on both left and right hand drive cars ?

looks like the beam pattern will be set by the reflector, if it even has one.

projectors set beam by blocking off a part of the lens at an angle, hard to explain but imagine a torch with a bit of tape over the lens, so that it gave an angled edge at the top

the old renault 12 had universal lamps,all u had to do was rotate the bulb about 5mm,there was a little plastic slide/stop beside the bulb base!!they've been around a while:)

you mean this style r12 headlight ?? are they really universal ??:eek::eek:

if theres a small plastic slider on the back of it then yes.all it does is rotates the bulb slightly to put the high side of the beam on the left or right.it did for me on the later type 12 but i think the lamp units were the same.
