Given the success of the Dial sets what could be the next thing to look into getting made for a group buy?!

Post up here something which you think the club should organise a group buy on & we can discuss the pro's :agree: & con's :disagree: on here??

Obviously it may be tricky to organise getting 25 new Solex 32DIS's to be made :sad2: but as they say everything is possible?! :D

How about the leather gaiter without any crap coloured stitching or logos

Free delivery on 2 or more, the tyres would have still have to be delivered to each persons house as no-where to store/postage on. Maybe see if Dawn can get a discount set up with them, but they are cheapest by far anyway.

Buying bulk I recon I could get them for around £7.50 inc vat each.

A new o.e gearknob, to kinda compliment the new shmoo dials, would be coolio.

What about contacting Michelin to see if they'd entertain the idea of running off a once-only batch of MXV's? I know we'd probably have to order a bulk-load, but the 195/55/13" tyre size is also popular with the mk2 escort fraternity, so we might be able to shift some sets in that direction.

If there's enough interest in new 32dis carb's, I can speak to the guy that I arranged the previous discounted price units with, to see if he can source another limited batch run.

Few more ideas...

Devil strut-brace.
Boost hoses (o.e webbing type).

Sam Fish

Devil strut braces:
tried a few times with Devil, but they arent interested... I rekon they would be £150+ to get made, so not worth it.

Coupe brake ducts:
Im looking into this. They are nice ducts and do the job. They seem to be injection moulded - made in two halves and glued together. I could temporarily pull a pair off a car to copy. Otherwise have a slightly broken set.... It is possible to make a similar thing from ally, but takes ages to do nicely. Anyone?

Coupe badges:
Doubt this would be popular with the coupe owners though. But Im sure they would sell. I would have one. Must be possible to get an EXACT copy within £30.

Tyres:
I rekon an order of 500 would get Michelin interested. Some rare batches are made of other tyres, only 200 per year etc. Some old Aston/Etype ones for example.

Period bckets seats!; i want some. But not the 70's inspired cobreau GT8 one though. Thinking more like the cobreau early kevlar ones from the 80's!!!!!!! A Pair would look amazing!

I could possibly store the tyres at my work place, but that would depend on how many we'd have to initially order, and how quickly you guys would buy them.

As said, the mk2 escort guys run that size tyre, so there is an option to off-load them that way as well.

Sam, if it's an exact match, I reckon there might be a good few sales of those Devil replica braces. They sell for a similar/sometimes higher price on here, and are usually sold within minutes of being advertised.

Wasn't someone looking into producing the Cup brake ducts before? In fact, if I remember rightly, didn't said person actually knock up a set, only for everyone to then mug him off for the cr8p look/build quality? :D

Billy, there was a guy on Ebay selling off gtt (ph2 red flick) seat material not so long ago. I know that doesn't help matters as such now, but it at least proves that the seat material is already available (from somewhere!) on a roll.

something i had thought about was the bushs in the torsion bar/ rearbeam assembly.

the ones i'm talking about are the big rubber donut ones as my car failed it's mot on these being perished, what it actually said is they're f***ed. the garage looked into getting them from renault, they rang back a couple of days later saying they had tracked down 3 in a warehouse, in france and i'd have to buy 2 at about £100 each so £200+labour to refurb the rear beam. ended up getting a second hand beam.

rang powerflex direct asking if they made them and had no idea what i was talking about. most people have changed their front bushs now so being as most of our cars are 20 years old these may be something that will need looking at in the near future, maybe.

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

hi there, i run a company specialising in composite molding, i would be happy to have a go at reproducing the door and rear quarter cards if there is enough interest, we have done molded door cards for several different cars in the past, generaly they have been custom items for audio installs, but no reason why we couldnt just reproduce the original cards shape, they would be a direct replacement made from a polyester/glass composite with fixing points to allow the use of the standard renault door card fixing clips and made to take the original renault speaker grills

only problem would be getting a corded pattern covering like the originals as it is practicaly impossible to cover by hand with that type of material without the cord lines looking wonky as it will stretch to accomodate the shape of the part, also coverings dont tend to stick well unless it is machine pressed in place and stuck with a catalysed adhesive.

i could flock them in the same color as the original cards though for a durable and attractive finish

i would expect cost of them to be somewhere around £250 - £300 for a pair of door cards and a pair of rear quarter cards in a professionaly flocked finish,

any interest ???
