He stuck engine bits up for sale at one point, but no one wanted to pay 1500 for the manifold etc. I'm sure the shell was binned, Its shame they got mugged off so badly as they were clearly 5 lovers. Fecked over so fecked off.

scoffs rear engine silver 5: It had a makover, electric blue with a Volvo engine. Sold to a VAG enthusiast in the midlands who I believe is converting it to accept a VW motor.

I think chris still has his EFI car, it did crap itself on the rollers while being mapped(destroyed the bottom end). As far as I know the car is still complete and just sat in a garage somewhere, it was repaired just needs mapping I think.

As for the beast, I think the car was stripped, the shell was sold to someone I know and is now on the road as a complete car

Black magic is now in Australia, a chap called john owns. It need a fair bit of work to get it up to its former glory, but he is working on it. Been helping him with parts. The Ali G car was sold to a customer who did nothing to keep it in good condition, K-Tec then brought back for peanuts, then started to try and sort things out, but was rotten, so got broken up.

I think that was broken for bit's as a bloke in Brighton called Alex (ex RTOC member)purchased the car as a non runner with the intention to use the engine in his 5 then his 5 got broken into and alot of stuff was taken and he ended up selling up as he had enough he went down the Skyline route. So from memory it's parts are all over the country.

Really, who said that, did he claim to have the whole car as it never was sold together.

I know the car really well, i stripped the car many times and the old owner used to own a night club and had people who did not like him, all sorts were put into the fuel system and the owner had not seen the fuel cap had been broken into.

The engine and box were stripped and the Red shell with body kit had a standard engine fitted and sold with the standard five engine and box.

The Turbonator engine and box sat in the workshop for near on 5 years, there was a shell that was stripped, sand blasted, totally rebuilt with body kit in light blue and was half rebuilt before i stopped doing any work on it.

The Turbonator engine and box sat in that the last time i saw it, it did not go with the Turbonator shell ect thats for sure.

In fact James it was built in a garage that was only 2 miles down the road from you in Small Dole called Trans4mations.

James5
26-10-2009, 17:01
If memory serves me right he said he got it with a blue shell but as a non runner he did have picks uploaded on the old RTOC site.

Small Dole crikey that's a stone throw away from me.

Yes and the garage was knocked down and now has houses on the site, when we catch up ill tell you all about it.

If thats the case if he got the blue shell with the blended in rear spoiler kit then he got the new shell, he may well have got the engine then but if it was in the state when i last worked on it and knowing the owner of the garage as well as i did nothing more would have been done to it, it would have needed a load of work to get it on the road, so he got the new shell but with the engine and box.

If money was thrown at it and it was done right it would have become a nice five and when it ran correctly it was very very fast.

No, I think he sold it to a lad from Wrexham. His name was John or something. Came on-line here giving it the fat one and quoting hilarious power claims, etc. Didn't last long.:sad2:

 Yeah, I remember his website. Total arse gravy of the worst kind.

The thing was, at that time, the majority of folk believed whatever he or GT tuning had to say about anything.

Do you remember the argument between Steve and Glen T about "who had the most power"... ? it rolled on and on, Steve assuring the world he had the most, essentially because he'd spent the most money on his engine. Glen responded by pointing out that his own R11 was notably heavier than Steve's R5, and still Glen went dramatically quicker on the drag strip. That was not enough to convince Steve, though

What I think its worth is not a lot. To get that looking anywhere decent enough to drive about you might as well buy another one. The interior is shocking and the wheels will not make it a fun car to drive. If its a show car you are after though, or for keep a piece of history then maybe 3.5k at most, but I dont see the point in a car like that.

This is an excellent thread its really good to see the history of the famous 5's, there are and have been some really special cars mentioned above.

It really gives you the driving force to appreciate these cars even more so...

Keep the pictures coming if any of you have them from back in the day FANTA'5'TIC :)

Guys thanks for this thread.

Thanks to this I've just bought B5GTT from John at GT Tuning.

It's still exactly the same spec as it was in the last max power article, and although it's been stored for years its in amazingly good condition.

I plan to use it pretty lightly (but enough to keep it good) as I've got a gtr for daily use now.

Any tips for who to insure it with?

No, the silver one was B9 GTT. B5 GTT was THE GT Tuning demo car that was the 1/4 mile record holder for several years. It was originally a Raider (Number 1 I believe - There's a piece of A4 paper confirming it ;)), but it was resprayed a bluey/greeny flippy colour.

Say what you like about GT Tuning, the car's a piece of gtt history, and a very big piece at that

It's good to see that it's resurfaced, and I hope to see it one day. Slaterd, hurry up and get it insured, and bring it to our National Day next weekend at Mallory Park :D

I remember Roly tried selling it years back for a crazy amount. I can't remember the exact figure, but I remember it being typical of GT Tuning's usual pricing structure :D

It's a legend of a car, and it was my favourite for a long time (back when it was in it's original colour, with TSW Blades)

i still think gt tuning gears some of the best thats ever seen a renault 5 when it comes to aftermarket gear.. well built, well styled that worked with the original parts and styling, not against it like kombat kits etc..

prices were:eek: but still even now alot of it can't be bettered, only copied..

Black Magic has changed hands again, still in Oz and gone to someone keen to keep it going strong.

Hopefully it will be back on the road for the early summer, sticking with the Europarts theme, hence the no colour change & C1J with the EP carb/injector set-up, more then likely a Adaptronic ecu for the ignition & to control the single injector?
Last but not least it will stay with the black & Orange seats:o, It just needs collecting from Dave’s as soon as the snow clears:sad2:
