hi today i have gone to do a compression test on my r5 took the king lead off the dizzy so not sparking. then took one spark plug out at a time wound the tester into the head and turned the car over a good few times but the psi guage didnt go up at all and i couldnt hear leaks. am i doing something wrong the engine was rebuilt only 6 months ago and the compression tester is brandnew used once to test gf fiat other month and it worked. the car was running rich and fouling the plugs so have now sorted the carb. surely the rings or head cant be leaking already its only been run in the garage. would a car still start and run with no compression? any ideas???

are you sure you have screwed the tester in tight enough? I doubt there is no compresion at all

i wound the tester end in with the sparkplug spanner mate then attached the guage unless the guage has some how broken could an engine run without compression???

Well my old 200sx ran with no compression on 2 cyclinders and would still crack 120mph with 25psi of boost:D
well until 8 of the 16 valves melted

lol hope i do have compression going to have another try when someone is with me so i ca turn engin ovr whilst someone listens for leaks. or try another tester this project is ding my nut in now lol fuel pump keeps going on it own when everything is off now wont start its must be either relay or pump gone so wll have to takepump off and test on battery. aaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
take all the plugs out and test wilst holding the throttle wide open
make sure u have a full charged batery to
check the release button on the pressure isnt stuck in that will cause it to buy pas the guage
