Have u got a multimeter u want to measure voltage at the lights ? Also measure at fuse box checking for 12v sounds to me like a bad connection

:confused:so other than the fuse box... bulbs... and connection to bulbs... it cant be anythin else?? no relays or switches anywhere??

I cant tell you the fault as I've only had my 5 a few months and I dont know the wiring that well yet, but see if you can get a wiring diagram from haynes or the vault on here and work out whats common to all the lights or circuits. it may be an earth point that has rusted over and needs cleaning. Chances are itr will be something simple.

i previously sed the break lights were working then stoped. When they were working i left the incar reading light on all nite..... the next day i noticed so turned em off but the car still started. except a while later.. the reading lights dont work.. plus all other breaks and indicators.... hmmm

Copper wire doesn't always stand the test of time and if it's 20 years old it may have some corrosion along its path causing the resistance to increase (open circuit) meaning it wont work.

I can read the diagrams I just have the problem of locating the wires in the car and trying to work out what repairs other people have made in the past. I've not learnt the hard way about metal watches!

hmmm think its an earthing problem... (if thats the bit that connects the negative terminal of the battery to the shell/body)

cos alot of electrics not working.... like the chargecooler pump, indicators, break lights...

but im wondering how the car still starts and other electrics work... but i got a big hunch its somthing to do wiv the earthig.

if it was the hazard switch.. the indicators would still work tho right???

No. Indicators run through the hazard light switch. I've had a quick look at the wiring diagram and can't see anything in common with the 2 circuit which have died apart from the obvious ones of +12v and earth.

There is a earth point in the passenger kick well next to the 3 big connectors under the panel trim below the glove box, above the carpet , below the bonnet pull!!! you found it yet :D Check that.

update....

both fixed..

break lights were not working becos one bulb was faulty... making only the tail lights work..changed that then both break lights worked :)

Indicators problem was one of the relays in the passenger side footwell... i would of thought thats what the fuse box is there for... for the fuse to blow first.. (hmm maybe i have the wrong fuse in)

all good now :)
