can anyone help... i have a pace chargecooler.... a few days ago it wasnt pumping the water around... i found it was the fuse (5amps) ..so i changed it. but i put a 20amp fuse.. It worked for a while then a few days later it stopped.

its not the fuse cos i changed it.. anyone had similar problems?? is there anyone near NW london who can have a look??

Check youve got a good earth mate, and prove 12v to the pump.

k.. im really no good wiv all this electronics..... engine i dont mind :P

earth?? this is how it is....

the pump has 2 wires coming out which go to some sort of transformer near the battery. the transformer has another 2 wires. 1 going to the battery +ve and one to the -ve. the -ve wire is fused....
-----------------------

i tried conecting the battery straight up to the pump... but nothing happend except a few sparks. :P maybe i fried it now? cos its spose to be fused to 5a???

Sounds like the pump had had it when it blew a 5a fuse, even more so if you've connected it straight to a battery and it did nothing.

could i have blown the pump by trying to connect it straight to the battery???

Doubtful, the pump has most probably reached the end of it's life and has seized it's bearings, nothing you've done. Source an alternative and i'm sure it will sort the problem. :)

It's a cr8p pump anyway, so you'd be better off sourcing an alternative.

The pump that comes with the PWR cores is a good'un, and I believe Sparkie managed to ascertain which car/brand it's from - VW rings a bell.

Thanks mart.... il have to pm sparkie.....

I was thinking tho... if i get another pump wich is ment to be better...(becos it pumps water faster).... becos it pumps the water faster... wont it warm the water up more??? js a thought.... maybe pace made the pump go at a certain speed for a reason... js food for thought

Thats the one you want. Fits a range rover 4.2 sport or a volvo XC90 V8. The one Sparkie came up with which is from the VR6 does not hold the flow rate when running at .3bar or as DaveAVT said it stalls.

It'll be fine. I meant better anyway as in more reliable, and that it doesn't draw as much current.

Bigfoot... would you know where i could get a transformer from??? u think it would be similar to the one u sell wiv your pump?

Mart

The Bosch pumps don't require a transformer/convertor - Only the janky Pace pump does, as it's an AC pump. The Bosch unit is a direct-connect 12v DC jobbie, hence that's all you need to buy.

great! how stupid! ive rang pace 3 times only to be told theres no one there who knows much about this chargecooler... useless!!

thanks mart. :)

Right.. ok... now that im buying a whole new pump for my chargecooler.... what use is my old pump without the transformer??? anything??

Mart
26-10-2009, 17:44
It's an AC pump, so it'll need a convertor to run. You might be able to off-load it on Ebay if someone's looking to replace a/their knackered pump unit.
