You can submit a claim for compensation for items lost in the post after 15 working days. You’ll need to download the lost / damaged Inland claim form (http://www.royalmail.com/link/download?catId=4200004&mediaId=46900691) (PDF 458KB) and send it to us with evidence of posting and evidence of how much the item cost you. If the item was posted internationally, you can submit a claim after 20 working days for Europe and 25 working days for the rest of the world.

surely your paypal receipt is proof of value?

Wouldn't the cost of selling the item I guess through eBay be enough? or just paypal receipt of item.

I have sold quite a few items mainly records that have been lost or damaged, not so long ago i sent a record from 91, it got broken in the post, he claimed his money back, so i tried this route, i filled in all the forms proof of posting and ebay receipt. They sent me a book of stamps, if i wanted to take it further i had to provide proper evidence about what the record was worth.

Having said i have had about £15 back for a lost record once, i can not remember what happened though.

What were they worth? Might be better of just writing them off.

I hate selling anything now because of all the hassle i get, claims, disputes, forms, bad feedback and a load of aggro. Always send special delivery or at least record.

I have visions of the post office, with some of my records being carried around in cotton wool and placed carefully placed in the bag then the vans, send it 1st class or god forbid 2nd, it then becomes a frisbee on the dinner hour

I have had alot of problems with lost items, without the original receipt it is so hard to get any money back, ebay invoices they don’t except. You can pay £5.20 for overseas signed for at each stage of transit. This is a way of seeing where it was last handed over. I now use a courier company for overseas items now!

All in the time was worth just under £20 to me, its anoying though when you are only making a few £ on an item and then one gets lost you loose out on £20 making your profit on items dissapear :(. I think ill try it at least.
