If just going for f7P keep with the gt turbo box, else you need to start swapping away dash clocks for them to work properly with the gearbox in the 5.

but my speedo on my 5 clocks doesnt clock up miles needs new clocks anyway how hard to run a cable. to change the clocks on the 5 to clio looks the same apart from a little triming of tabs on clio clocks

Yeah, well swapped the front covers over to gt turbo clocks, trims the tabs and fit speedo cable. not quite a perfect fit but dont look to far off really.

sod it im going for the valver box with cable driven speedo that means il have 2 gtt boxes to sell

JB3 014 is a GTT box.

Don't stress about circlips, they're all the same until you get to the newest stuff.

Circlips stay in with a spot of Tig.:D

you cant run the f7p without the f7p speed sensor properly anyway so the dials will
have to come out either way .

the engine runs fine without that sensor, unless I'm not understanding what you mean.

so where is the speed sensor and what does it do lucky i just bought a haynes of ebay for the wiring

my scab was crap on fuel with 3 different engines and 2 ecu's, so i got shot, only to find out that that sensor was probably affecting my fuel economy

for the record, 1.7 gtx clocks will swap over, same shape/fitment as gtt dials bar the boost gauge on rev counter, and they are cable drive

vehicle speed sensor, its on the top of the speedo cable behind the clocks, tells the ECU how fast the car is going, whether its moving or stationary etc. white plug with 2 wires

so im going to need to use the valver box then and run 2 wires to the engine bay loom of the f7p engine once fitted to my gtt.

you dont need to, it'll run without, i just assumed that that fact i didn't have one working affected my fuel economy

ok cool
i just looked at the back of the valver clocks ive got and theres no white plug

without the feed from magnetic sensor located at the speedo end of the cable(f7p/r) ,
it will start idleing dead low even cut out while changing gears unless
you keep it alive with the gas pedal .

i.e : put a car with f7p/r in neutral at speed (say 30mph) ,it wont go down to 950rpm
it will stay around 1300-1500 rpm untill you are at stand still .

mine did this with a chipped ECU but not that std one, mine was a pre immobiliser car however...

and the white plug in on the car loom not the clocks loom :smokin:

now you say it, I can remember my Williams 1 did something like this. but, I've put f7p's into R5's for people using the standard management and they've ran perfectly each time, so perhaps only particular ecu's have this feature ?

it will start and run at the correct idle speed , its only when you are changing
gears it will drop the revs down ,may be they never noticed or thought it was normal ??
have you got a recent example we can check to confirm ??

dont think its an ecu feature , my mk1 chamade and r9 16v does it if the white plug on the speedo cable is disconnected and been hearing from many clio boys that suffered the same over the years .

another problem believed to be caused by the speedo cable white plug is the high
idleing after a certain rpm is crossed , my r9 still does it rev over 5-6k and it will start
idleing at 1500rpm and wont go down untill the engine is turned off and on again
the reason for this one is supposed to be bad earthing of the white plug which
did not work in my case .
