Ok, im currently looking in to building a cage for the civic, i have to use CDS steel or chrome moly but i want to use CDS as its cheaper (aint bothered about extra weight).. The main hoop has to be 45mm OD and 3mm thick... Ive been hunting around for a decent place that sells of the shelf kits, i know custom cages do one around £500 thats it... I dont fancy sending the car to a chassis builder such as Hauser racing as it going to cost around 1700 + to fit one
So anyone know of anyone in the trade with cages? or of a good places ?
Cheers
When I looked into building a cage for my old 4X4 I went to a local metal supplier & they could get what I wanted(CDS), then I was going to hire a pipe bender & go from there...bend it, chop it, weld it :p
I suppose you are going to want something a bit closer to the end result than that to start off with though eh Rob ?
Will it need to be certified ?
you used to be able to purchase tube from safety devices...
Hi Rob,
Give Andy Robinson Race cars a call. Im sure Andy would sell you all the tube you need.I know he also bends it up for people and supplies it that way.
John Sleath racing is in York, and i think he has stock of CDS.
