Does it damage engines?
Turbo inj/Turbo carb or normally aspirated?

Generally kills gearboxes and clutchs also may snap weak driveshafts. Engine damage can occur if no rev limiter but I can't see how it would differ on n/a or turbo charged

very worthwhile in drag racing. probably not so in any other form of the sport. I had no problem with C1J and flat shifting either.

Full throttle shift seems to be more a must to me over the years to gain a decent 330 in drag racing... Ive never had an issue with it either...

I've done it alot, in the past. I was too quick for the jb3 2nd gear, on numerous occasions. You run into traction problems in lower gears on the road though.

i always use it down the pod, used to use it on the road but i think it probably had something to do with the rate i went through gearboxes

and most sequential boxes have it inbuilt, eg. the clio cup racecar

can some one shed some light on how they work?

real full throttle shifting involves a switch on the clutch pedal that holds engine RPM's fixed (through ignition cut usually) until the pedal is released. it means you can keep your foot flat on the throttle, meaning the turbo doesn't drop out of spool since the plate isn't closing.

if you're a cheap skate like me you can get away with a normal rev limmiter on the drag strip. if you're fast enough then the engine might pop off the limiter only once before the next gear is engaged. here's a 12.1 @ 116 I did some years ago with a c1j, 1-2 is not a flat shift (it can sometimes be problematic because of the big rpm difference between the 2 gears). 2-3 and 3-4 are flat.

It cuts some sparks so the engine rpm is prevented from increasing while the clutch pedal is pushed down. There is a switch that is attached to the pedal, that operates the Armtech / Omex one.

The fact is, if you flat shift fast enough, this electronic gizmo is superfluous.

I'd notice it cutting in however if I was driving and flat shifiting a bit more 'relaxed'.

I flat shift on the strip, a must on the drag strip imo.

Used to have the clutch swith on my armtech limiter but have just used the max cut since it broke. As scoff said a couple of pops off the limiter doesn't hurt. My engine hasnt fell to bits yet with the limiter at 7500(touch wood)

I agree 2nd gear sometimes wont have it, i have crunched a couple of boxes & hurt the syncro in the past.

i haven't heard of this before- what kit do you need for this?

Have you heard of the RTOC articles section :)

Not an extensive review or comprehensive piece in super detail, but maybe it'll help a bit :)

Most of the links don't work though.
