I need one :(

Is the airbox on the 11T the same as the 5GTT?

The 11t airbox is different to the r5gtt.

Can imagine it been hard to find one these days, ive broke 3 11t's up to now & only one had the o.e box & that was rotten.

I happen to have an R11 air box that isn't rusty! It could do with a clean up but it's in pretty good shape. ;)

Right, I now have a decent condition airbox off Alex but i'm having trouble visualising how it's meant to go on, and why there's a sprung loaded flap in the end between the 2 inlets/outlets.

Anyone got a photo of an 11turbo engine bay with standard airbox fitted?

Iirc the box is bolted onto a bracket that bolts to the gearbox. I think the brakcet is still bolted to my spare 11t gearbox if you need one.

The flap is to try & prevent carb freeze as far as i know, gtt airbox has it.

Nice one, thanks for that, should be able to get it on now.

I'll have to check again but I think the little bracket on the gearbox is still there, but i dont see what it's meant to attach to on the airbox as there are no lugs or anything?

What I do need is the bit of pipe to go from the airbox to the duct over the headlight, but I suppose any old bit of pipe of the right diameter will do for that.

What does the third stub (one of the 2 on the end with the sprung flap) connect to?

Right, think I've got it, there's another little pipe that comes from the turbo area that's currently open, that must fit the third stub.

OK, another question...

What actually actuates the sprung flap?

At the moment it's sprung such that the cold air feed that will come from the duct is closed, with the small warm air one from the turbo area being open

isnt the 9T airbox the same near enough as the 11? if so i'll have a look at mine on saturday when im home from birmingham mate from the classic car show and see what you mean about that part, i would have thought some kind of linkage that opens it up the more the throttle's opened? no idea i dont do engines that much only bodywork lol

The flap is for diverting warm air into the air intake in colder weather instead of taking it from the front.

OK that makes sense, but what actuates the flap?

the flap opens when the engine is revved.
