View Full Version : Difference with 45 and 50 tyres
Whats the difference between me getting 195/45/15 and 195/50/15 and 195/55/15 apart from the price?
The 45 means it's a lower profile tyre.
The first number is the width of the tyre, the second is the profile size and the third is the rim size.

50's would b easier to fit!!:D:D
If you're low then 45's will be better, some 50's may rub..
im running a 45 profile tyre with 50mm drop on the front and torsion bar set to match. Its a bit bumpy but then i think a 50 profile may rub but will find out soon when i stick the clio wheels on to try and see!

ive got 195 50 15s on my gtt wish i had gone 4 the 195 45 15 as they give u a bit more room whne lowered 50mm plus i dont have full steering lock ither would have with 45s
Profile height is calculated as a % of the tyre width (so 45% of 195mm is less than 50% of 195mm). In other words:
195mm x 45% (of 195mm) x 15inch rim size. Thus - 195/45/15.
45 profiles will be a bit more expensive than 50s like for like.
