F*ck me, what am I doing wrong when trying to post a pic on the site such that it automatically appears in the thread?

I wanted to upload straight from my PC but am guessing the site doesn't allow it.

So I uploaded a pic to photobucket and used the 'insert image' button and pasted the URL. That resulted in the little box with a red cross in it.

So I searched the net for the answer and tried adding the <img src=" file name" > HTML into the URL info, still nothing.

What am I missing? :homer:

Cant do it straight from a PC mate.

If you're using photobucket, copy the bottom of the links under the related photo... should have:

[ img ]

At the beginning of the link.

You can post directly on the site, scroll down below your post window when making a post and you'll see a button saying "Upload pictures or files". I thought I'd made it obvious enough ;)

If you use photobucket be carefull to select the right link from photobucket, it offers more than one. You want the direct link, or whatever it calls it. That will work in the insert-image function.

You can also add pictures to the albums function in your profile, that works well.

Finally, there will soon (in the couple of days) be a files area again, I've finished it, it's being tested and organised by the others just now. It will also allow picture upload, so then you'll have 4 options. :)

Thanks guys. Sorry Chris, I'm a complete Doofus. I did search this site and the net before generating this thread, lol.

Still took another two goes at getting it in from Photobucket via the insert image button too though. It is the 'direct link' and not the 'Img Code' link that's correct.

Incidentally, in my mongoose exhuast thread message, the direct link that I've used to finally display the pic, looks the same (at a glance), to the clickable link i originally posted into the msg (and had tried to use with the insert image button initially). I don't know.

Anyway, that's sorted. Thanks for the help. Hope this thread proves worthwhile for others.
