Setting mixture

Car is idling like a dream now, so want to set mixture. how many turns out is roughly on a fully rebuilt carb?

Ive had a go and in hayes manual its says do it clockwise until engine note or revs drop, then back it out half a turn (or something along those lines:))

Only problem is the engine note and revs only change when the screw it almost screwed right in?

Any help on setting it up?

the bit im not sure with is it says wind it back in until engine note changes or revs drop. Mine doesnt you can wind it all the way in.

So would 2 1/2 turns out be right?
