Re: and the raider number is ?????
[quote=m5tt;160956]I know this is most likely diverting the thread slightly but.. I've personally seen more raiders than I have electric blue 5 GT Turbos so if anything they should have been given a limited number !
it more than just a paint colour that makes a raider.
Leccy blue was an option you had to pay more for i think much like black and the pearls:):agree:

Ohh i thought they may have been production colours. I asume that this is the same as the silver 5gtt's ,And this is the reason for there small numbers :coffee:
As for the Raiders, I know the history and there reason for being But what I should have said was some thing completely different (so my bad :) ) , what I was indicating was while reading pistonhead adverts all I ever see is limited number only 1000 made, blah blah but in actual fact I see alot more raiders on there and other places than I do say Leccy blue ones as an example! but i hadnt realised that they werent production colours thus explaining there limited numbers
so thanks for the indication :agree: Sorry to the OP for a serious thread diversion!
Re: and the raider number is ?????
ALL RADIERS are just normal 5gtt's but with a special colour sceam. end of production tart up to to sell what they have left
nearly all manurfactures do the tart up for end of line production
Re: and the raider number is ?????
you mean the raiders aint 1.7 16v like all the ebay adverts?
Re: and the raider number is ?????

Re: and the raider number is ?????
Yes but if Renault didn't specify a number not to be exceeded, then it's not really limited in any way over and above any other GTT.
Like for example, the electric blue Phase 2 was only available from 1988 to 1989. As far as anyone knows, there was no Elec Blue car built in 1990 (though there may be some registered on a G plate). I'd hazard a guess that the manufacturing window was actually shorter than for the Raider.
I'd describe Raiders maybe as a 'Special Edition', marketed slightly differently in different European countries (Allain Orielle vs Raider etc). Of course even then their equipment wasn't unique (barring the window sticker in the UK) as can be seen when looking at the Euro-only GTE.
Special Edition, maybe a bit like the Monaco or Baccara, rather than Limited Edition. Unless, we can dig up some evidence of a limited number...
Re: and the raider number is ?????
knowing renault, they made them until the paint ran out....
Re: and the raider number is ?????
It seems that renault cannot get the numbering thing sorted even these days, over on Cliotrophy we now have a fairly comprehensive list of the majority of the limited number of "500(?)" this has thrown up several with the same number and also the fact that Renault has no record of which number went with each car.
Re: and the raider number is ?????
The whole limited things abit of a scam, Williams 1 was limited so buyers must have been pi55ed at the arrival of the Williams 2 and 3.
A women mummy knows bought a limited run porker or a special only for them to do another pretty much the same, so the oh so rare one wasn't gonna be as rare as they made out.
It's all a clever blag :D

thats right and thats the point, in my eyes it takes away from the limited ones.. after the 1st run sold out they must have thought they missed the boat and shoulda made the limit higher.. oh wait, if we stick a 2 at the end no one will ever notice we're blagging the last buyers.. later sticking on a 3 to really kill off exclusivity..
they could have been more exclusive and have more value without the 2 and 3 knocking about..
are there any myths about the 1/2 or 3 having more bhp over the others, or having parts made of gold, perhaps each car was tested on track by god himself before finishing the pdi check.. im sure there are some people out there that bullsh1t up there williams over the next..

Re: and the raider number is ?????
my raider must be number one, as it is the most rusty, and also had a post-it note inside saying 'this is the first one'
