Wow, that P&O price has ramped up!
If anyone wants to meet up before getting to the EuroTunnel terminal, how about 5:30am at the Tesco just off the M20 Ashford junction? (where we all met last time)

I'll more than likely book Norfolkline as i'm a janky poor caaaant  and hopefully hook up en route, failing that i'll see everyone at Nurburgring on the Saturday. I'll probably book the ferry this weekend.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
I'm beginning to think the ferry might've been a safer option...

I've booked the 6am ferry with Norfolkline on the Saturday, it takes 1h 45m so i should be on french soil approx 9am
As far as i'm aware it's only Mart, Alex and Giles who have booked their crossing. Correct me if i'm wrong. I should be at Nurburgring for around 3pm Saturday :)
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
I must admit i am tempted to go ferry option myself... although i will have to wait til Tuesday this week to book...
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Admit was thinking about the ferry too, it's more sociable and we'll have plenty of time in Germany anyways. There's also all the problems with half the tunnel being closed at the moment, I know it'll be sorted by then but we need to book ASAP really.
-

Definitely best to book asap so we're on the same ferry and you get the same price as what i paid too

-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Eurotunnel is now open both ways.
The prices will ramp up if yous keep leaving it.
And not forgetting the fact that October is historically a windy month, so if you haven't got good sea legs... http://www.residentadvisor.net/image...miley_sick.gif

I have been told its "walking distance in the same village" now bearing in mind the village is tiny i dont see it being a problem... but even so i dont plan on drinking whilst i am over there so i will happily drive whilst over there if needed...
As for sunday i think most people plan on getting up, breakfast, go to the ring.. have a day over there... if i take the diesel i may get hold of a decent camera and go for a nice walk and get some pics of you guys on track...
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Still can't understand why you guys don't look for digs in Nurburg itself? There are more places other than the Tiergarten...
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
what sorta price u putting out on digs mart if you dnt mind me asking?

To stay at the Tiergarten? I think it works out around £40 per person per night (based on 2 sharing a room). I know it's not as cheap as staying at Gunther's (*), but it saves a bit of fuel by not having to drive to his place & back every day, plus it's like a minute's drive to the 'Ring entrance, steak on a stone dinners at the Pistenklause, a good chance of bumping into Sabine, badical rooms, plenty of parking spaces, blah blah blah.
* If I remember rightly from last time I stayed at Gunther's, based on 2 people sharing a room & staying 3 nights, I think it works out around £30 more to stay at the Tiergarten for the same duration. By the time you've taken off fuel used getting to/from Gunther's, the difference is hardly worth worrying about.
As I mentioned before, there's plenty of other hotels in Nurburg, which then means we could all hook up of the night-time for some German beerage without anyone having to worry about driving.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Any idea if they have rooms still @ the Tiergarten? I may give them a ring in a minute

thats a bit harsh if shopboys sorted you a room at gunters?
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
I didn't mean to book, I mean for the other guys who aren't set yet
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
If you're v lucky, there might be a room or 2 left, but from what I can make out, the GTR/Skyline owners club have pretty much taken all the rooms for that weekend.
Defo worth a phone call though. If they haven't any rooms, I'm pretty sure they'd pass on contact details of a nearby hotel which might have rooms.

Maybe, but then no money has been put down, and it's not like everyone is tied & bound by contract to stay at Gunther's. Even Shopboy himself isn't staying there!
In fairness, I did mention all this to Shoppers when I first said about the October weekend/Alex & myself going out there, but for whatever reason Gunther's place still got the nod.
Just a shame that the group is now gonna be split up for the night-time fun & games :(

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Cheers mart... you janky c*nt.... all my hard work...
TBH i am happy to do some last min booking for the RTOC people if there happy not staying at Gunters...
I will happily email/call a list of hotels tomorrow but with out being funny we will need to let Gunters kow asap as i have no doubt they maybe be a bit p*ssed off but as long as we give 4 weeks notice its pretty fair...
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Chris, I think everyone already booked to stay @ Gunthers and the local guesthouse is happy where they are anyway

Right tbh theres not many hotels for us but... there is one...
Price is €225 euro for the 3 nights... for a double room, thats and extra €40 over Gunters....
Its trackside which is pretty good.... opinions please... http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...Bilder_001.jpg

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Are we changing now? Lol happy to go with whatever anyone else wants. I'm not driving so I don't really get a say
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Dont mind, happy with anything. Hotel with view
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
TBH i wasnt to keen on changin hotels, but seeing as now i have a list of 10 hotels next to ring (within 2 miles max) and there all pretty good prices, speak fluent english... accept credit cards etc....
Perhaps its time to say good bye to gunters and have a hotel Track based so to speak....
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
I'm happy to stay at Gunthers hotel, reasonable price, good food and beer, and the drive over to the Ring isn't that bad... there's also 100RON Shell just round the corner too.
Looks like i'll be there on my own
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Yeah plus side, Gunters food is rather nice, and the last hotel we stayed at was not the best really. But then again you never know until you try.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Not stayed at Gunthers myself but everyone I've spoken to seemed to love it. More than happy to stay there :)
It may be something to think about if we can ALL get in the same hotel but you don't need to create work for yourself Chris. Chillax and just await the 18th October, woohoo :D
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Oh and to those who haven't yet booked travel, you may want to soon as the prices are beginning to rise.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Shoppers, is that the Hotel Nordschleife at the Breidscheid corner? (where the 2nd entrance barriers to the track are). If so, I reckon we should all stay there the next time, as it's supposed to be a v nice hotel with bloody good food/portions.

Not that it makes a great deal of difference, but why are peeps booking the 2:20pm ET for the return leg? Is the 2:50pm train now fully booked?
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
I booked the 2:50 train yesterday.... but as said as long as your within 2 hours each side of your departure time ET will do the best to get you on a earlier train... considering even atm trains are only running 70% during off peak hours we should be fine.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
What happens when you try too hard
Dave who used to own a red gt turbo from chelmsford went over to the ring last weekend. His car came back in one piece, one of the cars didn't
http://photos-051.ll.facebook.com/ph...03680_8761.jpg
http://photos-051.ll.facebook.com/ph...03681_2150.jpg
http://photos-051.ll.facebook.com/ph...03682_2436.jpg
http://photos-051.ll.facebook.com/ph...03683_2725.jpg
Supposed to have been £1850 worth of damage to the track and im guessing that includes recovery of vehicle from track and closure of it.
Plus would need to get his car back to England.
Makes you think about is it worth going fast round that track.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Ouch, not a cheap repair there...
I hope the lad was ok, Seriously guys take it easy on track... so far RTOC has had luck on there side... but will it always be there?
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
what caused that crash? crap driving/under estimating the track or.....?
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
From what Dave was saying, the bloke managed a 8.5min lap on the track, the car is running about 280bhp so im guessing he was seriously pushing it and went beyond his skill of driving.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
guys advice here please, i'd love to do something like this once the 5 is up and 100%
what happens with regards to brake downs etc and terminal faults, do you just take the risk that everything will be fine, i know you can get international brake down etc, but say you trash the engine, its not like you can just pop back to the garage once the works been done, what plan do people have in place for this?
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Basically we have had around 20 different 5 goes... no major problems... all fixed out there... but if worse comes to it BreakDown is needed... but even then they often dont pick up from the ring or take u back to the UK.... they will often only tow to the cost of the car.... but argue your car is Agreed value £3k etc etc...
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
ah right so its always handy really having a supposrt vehicle as such that can tow maybe a trailor if there's tonnes of people going, bit ott but i'd be gutted trying to lug all my gear home only to leave the car behind, for naff all insurance pay out
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
New poster! (less than 10 posts)
IF you have a breakdown on the Ring, I have ADAC cover which will save you the 185 EUR it costs to have it towed off the circuit..secure indoor/ outdoor storage is available close to the Ring if you have problems..
My advice would be to read the following link, then read it again :)
http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/beginners.html
But anyone that is timing their laps round the Ring is asking for trouble....reckon that guy with the Focus will still want the Ring sticker on the car after that :D
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Right then people... a few members said that they were interested in going to the ring at ND.... Well you now have 48 hours from now to confirm as i must confirm 100% numbers with our hotel & B&B regarding rooms etc.
Anybody know if Jesus and J are still going... not heard from them in a while regarding the ring?
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Will text J now for ya Chris :agree: If Tricky comes it's going to be an extremely last minute decision so he'll be sorting himself out

-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
I've also been in contact with EuroTunnel to confirm about the crossing times, any delays, etc.
As soon as they reply back, I'll post it on here.
Just to check, are the majority booked onto the 6:20am train on the Saturday morning?
Meeting up time has changed, for those that do want to meet before-hand - It's now 5:15am onwards at the Tesco near Shopboy's (M20, junction 10), leaving there at 5:30am sharp.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Yep, 6:20 saturday morning, another great early start. And going to be nice and cold as well.
Seems they are having troubles with ET still, saw it on the news again last night, any clue what that was all about?
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Dale, according to the below link they had to remove part of the damaged train
http://www.eurotunnel.com/ukcP3Main/...ukpFocusOn.htm
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
It's only the last third of one of the tunnels that's still closed. ET reckon they're nigh-on upto full speed again though, but I just wanted some clarification from them just incase there are any delays, or that we might have to be there earlier to guarantee a spot on that 6:20am train, etc.
If you think it's gonna be cold that time of morning, it should set you up nicely for Germany then, as the long range forecast (pinch of salt time) reckons it's gonna be a 'chilly' but dry weekend.

ET are running, but more like 1 train an hour... seeing as our 6:20 train is the 2nd train out that morning we "should" be ok.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
'Should' - Hence my email to them, so we all know the bobby...

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Just received a further booking confirmation from Eurotunnel and I chose the 6:20am departure time and 14:20 return time only it says the below:
Check-in closes 05:25 Departure time 05:55 Arrival time 07:30
Does anyone else have the same?
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
EuroTunnel update...
Just spoken to them, and the 6:20am train has been cancelled. Everyone booked onto that train should get an email in the next couple of days, if you haven't already done so, giving you the option of taking the 5:55am or 7:30am train.
If you've already been designated a time slot though, you can phone ET & ask to be put on the alternative time slot train, but this is on a first come first served basis.
Not sure what everyone else is gonna do, but personally, I'm gonna request the 5:55am train.

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Ive just checked my emails, they sent through another copy of the confirmation of booking today and it still says departure at 6:20
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Dale, I spoke to ET this morning - The 6:20am train is cancelled. Period. You have the choice of taking either the 5:55am or 7:30am trains.
More than likely, if you were to check with them yourself, you'll find you've probably already been allocated a space on the 5:55am train.
If that's too early, you can change it to the half 7 train, but you have to let them know asap.
Think we'll all be sleeping well that first night out there...
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Im going to ring them up today, was too late last night. Was just suprised that I got another Email but with same times on them. Find out soon anyway, but will be booking the early train anyway
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Just rung them up, definately the 6:20am on the 18th is still running. They have two trains running close to each other every 90mins. the 5:55 and 6:20 being them. So unsure on what you have read, unless they have moved yours because other people who are booked on a later train have taken up your slot and they have moved you early. Well as everyone is moving in the same convoy, im still going to be waking up early to get the early train as thats still possible to get with my ticket.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Ok, this is far too confusing, as the French cock I spoke to yesterday assured me the 6:20am train had been cancelled altogether.
Time for another phone call...
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Oh, I can feel some fecking smackdown coming on
Apologies for any confusion, but it appears I was fed a bowl-full of ET bullsh1t yesterday...
Just spoke to them again, and surprise surprise there is a 6:20am train still running :sad2: The reason why they spouted pony to me yesterday is apparently because the 6:20am train is fully booked, and hence, at random, some people have been pushed onto the 5:55am train.
Now why they didn't explain that yesterday, gawd knows
So, to confirm, or at least I think this is now the case; for anyone who's had an email saying you're now on the 5:55am train, that's now the bobby. The chances of getting it changed to the 6:20am train is null & void. If you haven't had any updated email from them, you're still on the 6:20am train.
Fecking typical that I've got the furthest distance to travel overall, and been placed on the earlier train. FFS.

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
I am seriously p*ssed off about all this messing about... i like the way ET take the time to call us personnaly... not everybody has email address's....
We give them a f*cking phone number, they should f*cking use it. ET are monkeys i swear... they employed 100 extra people since the fire to be in there customer service call centre in ashford... believe me when i ring i would feel sorry for the poor tw*t who answer's it... and if i get any sh*t excuse from them i am going straight to the call centre as its next door to Ashford Test centre and kick some a*se.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Ferry.... FTW :coffee: :D
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Ricky, p1ss off ;) :D
Unless ET change the crossings again  how does circa 5am (for leaving time) at the now infamous Tesco near Shopboy's sound? I swear if it gets any earlier, I might as well sleep in their sodding car-park that night  :D
For the guys & girls on the 6:20am crossing, we'll wait for you at the same services we all met at last time - The one that's about 60 mile or so once we're off the train.
So that'll be Sunderland to Abergavenny Thursday night, Abergavenny to the ghetto Friday night, then a 4am start Saturday morning. Splen-fecking-did :sad2:
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
WTF, got another Email from ET this morning... regarding my return trip in the 21st....
I was meant to be on the 14:20 train but the f*ckers have moved me forward to 12:20....
I have had it up to here with Eurotunnel.... why the F*CK should i be at there beck and call... f*cking Frogs

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Just got the below back from them, had to email the other day as couldn't get away to make a call:
"Thank you for your email
You should have received notification of this amendment by email Ms Smith,if you haven't please accept our apologies. Due to the incident on the 11 September, your pre-booked departure and return time have had to be amended to an alternative time in line with our Revised Shuttle Service Timetable. Customers are advised to respect their new departure times to avoid over-extended waiting times. "
That's just shoddy! Noticed they've actually moved my departure on 21st back to 14:37 too, not really bothered about that though
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Ok guys,
1 huge major f*ck up going on here...
The "cheap" ticket deal we did.. ie : booking 2 journeys is against ET Terms and conditions.
We "could" and would most likely get stung... basically ET have the right to charge up singles fare per journey... something like £150 max!!
Now i have cancelled Eurotunnel booking, i managefd to get a refund, i just said i cant afford for ET to change my bookings anymore hence going elsewhere, stated i didnt trust ET with my booking/money anymore and would not be dealing with them anymore.
Please everybody cancel ET booking as we dont want anybody getting stung big time!!!
Norkfolkline is £60 P&O is £75....
I will be confirming my booking tonight after work... most likely going via P&O as i have been on there before and had no problems...
PLEASE PASS this message on to everybody going (Mart, Krisy M, J & Jesus, Tom6ft6, Adey, Dale Jarvis, Minty 83 etc)
Sorry i dont have time atm to txt everybody...
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Drama drama, they are muppets to be fair! Shoppers, can you do us a favour and repost the NFL or P&O times/website etc so it's to hand for everyone when they see this in the latest post?
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
This is just bollox :( looks like its going to be fun cancelling and rebooking. P&O are charging fuel surcharge now :(
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
if you do go with P&O then ask if Tricky can have a go at the helm.....
I'm sure he can the back end out with 40,000BHP on tap
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
My ET crossings are now cancelled :sad2:
Booked with NorfolkLine (Ricky was right - Ferry FTW). Travelling out 6am on Saturday 18th, coming back 2pm Tuesday 21st. Cost comes in just shy of £60 return.
Forget the meeting times/place; I'll catch you guys either at check-in or on the boat.
What a complete & utter fecking carry on...
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Chaps, sorry to hear about the ET goings on :(
I'm booked on the Norfolkline, Saturday 18th at 6am, i'm coming back a day earlier on the Monday which gave me the total price inc fuel surcharge and credit card charge of £65. ET wanted £120 for my Saturday-Monday return so it made sense for me to book the Norfolkline option.
The ferry isn't that bad, a nice full english and a cup o splodge first thing in the morning before the trek over Europe :)
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Right i have now booked with Norfolkline..
Times are
Departure Saturday 18th of october at 06:00
Returning Tuesday 21st of october at 14:01
I hope everybody else can join us, i am so sorry for the cock... another lesson learnt for Ring trips in 2009.

I seriously wouldnt recommend it as you could be charged £250ish...
Here is the piece of ET terms & conditions...
1. TICKET VALIDITY
1.1 Your booking is only valid for the booked departure date and time and the vehicle type stated.
Failure to complete both the outward and return journeys in respect of a return booking will invalidate your booking and in the event that you complete only one journey in respect of a return booking, you will be liable to pay the difference between the price that you paid for your return booking and the single fare applicable at the time that your journey was made. Eurotunnel reserves the right to obtain from you payment in full for all sums so arising.
All travel must be completed within 1 calendar year of the date of booking.

Nope, anybody caught using camera be the still or movie cams can be banned from track.
Spectators are welcome to take pics/vids from the track side.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
No. If you get caught, they'll ban you for the day. If you ignore, continue to record & get caught the next day/next time, you'll get a permanent ban. End of.
Course, that doesn't stop people hiding camcorders/bullet cams though, but that's the risk those people are willing to take.
Also bear in mind there are 'spotters' galore around the track, as well as marshalls, and joe public, who will contact the race/ticket office if they feel you're ruining everyone elses day on track.
Bear that in mind as well if you're unfortunate to start dropping any fluids on track. If that happens, pull over straight away, and do NOT attempt to drive back to the car-park.

No. You can have half the BBC rigged up in your car. It won't make a difference.
I guess they had permission to film for the Osbourne thing, given that that was gonna appear on tv.

No camera's full stop!! The nurburgring have banned them, also worth reading http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/
IE: Warning section, Rules and penalties
You need to be very carefull driving the ring....
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Adey, you need to read & digest what I'm posting. If you get caught filming, you will get banned for the rest of the day.
If you get away with it, fair play, you'll have some good footage. If you get caught though, your day/possibly weekend is over as far as driving on track again goes.

iv got 1 of those little billet cameras il bring it and ask on the day cant see why they dont want any cameras theres loads on youtube
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
i do read what you say bud, but the amount of videos out there seem to sugest it might not be s strict as made out, hell ive got a 10 min of video footage from my own car with the passanger holding the camera. could be for legal reasons same as the noise testing?? im still yet to see any of either things enforced
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Upto you, but I'm telling you now, as exactly as the guy in the ticket office will tell you on the day, that if you get caught filming, you'll be banned.

Adey, I think the number of cars that have attended the ring over the decades somewhat easily outweigh the number of videos posted on YouTube.
Maybe those people have been lucky, or have their cameras hidden away.
I witnessed for myself, as did a few others, an Impreza getting noise-tested in the car-park, and subsequently banned from going on track when the tester's dB meter showed 104dB.
Giles, my mate with the 32 Skyline, knows a couple of people who have been kicked off track for recording vid's.
I'm not posting all this for fun or to be a killjoy. I'm just trying to make you aware of what may happen, as at the end of the day, no-one wants their weekend ruined, do they.

Just trying to find my E111 but I know where my passport is, plus all documents for my car, insurance, V5 and MOT, just in case. Need to ring up insurance company to let them know its going abroad again.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
The E111 doesn't exist anymore Dale, that's what this European medical card is for. It's still however not a replacement for travel insurance so I'm going to get a single-tripper when I go to the post office to exchange my squids into Europops :)

Yeah I know that :) just cant find the damn thing. and it was easier to type out. Tried applying for another one online and they say ive still got a valid one. Might actually check in the glove box on my 5, think that was the last time i saw it :(
Getting travel insurance, more than likely through Boots again as they were quite cheap.

Will do mate :agree: With a bit of luck, come this time Friday, we'll already be en route to the ghetto.
A Jafflong ruby would defo get the weekend off to an even better start :)
Dawn, I know you aimed this at Shopboy, but I'm guessing the majority, if not all, will want to get some laps in on Saturday afternoon, then Sunday is the main action day as the track is open all day, hence I'm guessing people will be on track/taking a walk around the track, getting some pic's etc, that day.
Maybe not, but that's pretty much my plan of attack. As for Monday, I'll take it as it comes...

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Hey guys/girls.
Got back from the Ring on Monday night and have to say what a delightful weekend! Managed 3 laps but had to que for 1 1/2 hours due to 2 accidents...It was twice as busy as the first time I went out in May with you guys!! Unfortunately I was already in line when they closed it otherwise I'd of waited for the mayhem to die down! My first lap was like racing on the M25!!:sad2:..They really should do something when its like that! It was too dangerous to rag it if Im honest..The next two laps were much better as the rush had gone....well pleased with my last lap..9 minutes 42 secs...I had a smile all the way home!! :D
Have a wicked weekend guys and all come back in one piece!! have fun troopers!
Lomo :smokin:

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Ok 1 huge major f*ck up from Gunters gone on here...
I have email proof that is there mis understanding of English, but basically I sent them the final confirmation of rooms and they have messed up the "guesthouse" list and Gunters have booked 4 rooms in the guest house (Meant to be 2 double rooms).
I pointed out the mistake on there part and there response was this
"sorry but its to late to storno the guesthouses so your friends must pay a schmal Money for the three doublerooms.
I think 50 Euro per double room for three day is not to mutch for your friends for Storno the rooms.
So i have book it for you and now its only two double room thats not o.k"
Now i have also been told that J & Jesus are not attending.. So that means we could be paying for 3 empty rooms..
Now i am not happy but everytime i ring them i get told "email only english" and emails arent fast to reply.
I am tempted to f*ck Gunters off completly even tho they have been very helpfull, but i am not being stitched up for 3 empty double room's.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
That's really confusing. Are we gonna try book somewhere else then? I'll just do what I'm told
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
wtf? i aint in for paying for rooms that arnt been used
-

Ok I think we may only be paying a cancelation fee of €150 euro's, We would have to pay a cancelation fee for 1 room as that the room for J & Jesus's. I wish that they had told us sooner that they were going to cancel, they havent even told me yet but have told another member going on this trip.
I dont know how exactly Gunters made the error, i am going through all my emails right now.
If i am reading dodgy English correctly its only €150 cancelation fee, between 15 of us its only €10 each...
Perhaps its worth keeping the peace for €10 per person. I will confirm this once i have 100% confirmation from Gunters.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
J and Jesus shold be billed , 3 days to go its a piss take.
let me get this right, its 150 euros if we cancel the booking, or its now going to cost each of us another 50 euros for double rooms?
so it was 155 euros if memory serves and now will cost 205?
plus 10 euro chip in for the cancel feefor there room? 215 in total then?
Its prob too late to book anywhere else.
-

But I agree, why should we pay for somebody cancelling this late on. Dont want to offend jesus (dont know what sort of things he can do) but cancelling this late is not right.
Its been 195 euros from the start. Which that is what we should all pay as what has been agreed on.
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
I know we have agreed on paying €195 per double room but now there is an empty room to be paid for..... they have agreed to give us a cancelaton fee but not just on that 1 room over 3.
Now i think its better to accept the €150 cancelation fee for the 3 rooms rather than upset gunters and refust to pay for them 3 rooms.
Because in theory they could of charged us full rate for the cancelation of J & Jesus's room, which would be more.
-

so we cancel all 3 and rebook new ones?

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Noooooooooooooo, the guesthouse is run by friends of Gunthers so Shoppers booked all the rooms for main hotel and guesthouse through Gunthers...but they messed up the guesthouse rooms and we have too many

Sorry, but in my book that is fecking out of order. Bad enough letting you guys down at the last minute, let alone finding out about it 3rd hand.
Poor show chaps :sad2:
If it were me, unless there's a genuine reason why they can't now attend, I'd be asking J & Jesus to pay the cancellation fee. Bit unfair asking everyone else to pick up their bill as such.

Quite a funny story regarding that GT. An English guy in an R8 was parked up and loving the fact his car was pulling the looks....Right in the middle of one of his hoorahenry comments that Porsche parked next to him...You should of seen the crowd fek him off!!:laugh: He was devastated!!!:bothered:
You get an idea of it in this picture...

The AA charge more if your car is over 15 years old, but is it worth it as they will more than likely recover it to a local garage and leave it there. They wont bring it back. And they go off the glass guide price :(

Jesus, TBH i cant be bebothered to chase you and J up via email/pm/txt's, i am not going to chase you guys for the hotel penalty. The group will take the cost, if individual members feel like they are owed €10 then they can take it up with you and J.
I am not getting to an arguement with anybody over this as this is also my time away and i get fed up with all the emails between hotel and myself over the cost.
As for next year's ring trip's they will be different, 100% Crossing up front, 100% Hotel deposit up front... no refunds. Sorts the boys out from the men as Mart would say. - And no thats not a dig at Jesus or J.
I personally cant wait to get out to Germany and have a few Beers and some nice steak... oh yeh and drive the best track in the world with the best people there aswell.
I am Gutted Jesus and J cant make it as there part of the Orginal RTOC-Ring group.

Shopboy, i'm looking forward to this weekend, just a shame a couple of things have gone t1ts up. I for 1 appreciate the time and effort you and anyone else has put in for this trip, organising anything can often be a thankless task :crap: Bring on the Saturday night, we'll have a few beers :)
-
Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
just reading this carry on yeah whoever was driving and matt should have let the organiser know that plans had changed and if its deffo costing others more then yeah that should be sorted too imo...but there is deffo instances of "the kettle calling the pot black" in the above posts regarding organising or posting up events and then saying there not comin or just not turning up or never comin in a car of there own...my rant over and i dont care less if know one listens ;)
btw full money up front at least 2 months in advance or GET F****d in the future gets my vote :)

matt let it pass m8...and hope your w*****G hand gets better soon pal

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Too right Jaffa, regards people initially putting their names down months in advance and then bailing out whenever they feel like it. People should put their money where their mouth is and pay up at least a sizeable non refundable amount to secure their place, end of. I think it's the fact that the hotel never took or asked for a deposit that some people see fit to not bother going and not say anything.
The reason i book my own ferry crossing and last time booked my own double room

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Jaff, if that pop was at me for now not making Oulton Park trackday, and not turning upto ND in the jap taxi, there's 2 genuine reasons why that's the case. However, I've given plenty of notice that I won't be at Oulton, and I still turned up at ND regardless.
The difference is, both of those actions hadn't/hasn't left anyone out of pocket.
Anyway, what's done is done now, so we'll leave it there.

I had a great time, another 6 laps added to the Clio Diesel Learner car, best time is 10:30odd with 2 passengers.
The Diesel needs more power up the hills and i will crack the sub 10's.... But next year i hope to be there in a 5 of some sort. :)

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Hi peeps, I arrived at 11pm yesterday but absolutely shattered. Had a really good weekend away, as always a pleasure to hook up with the regular crew.
Did 3 laps and on the 3rd i lost braking doing 110mph into the series of corners after the 1st bridge and start/finish line. metal grinding noises on the way back to the hotel so i'm driving gingerly. Bought new rear brake pads on the Monday in Adenau, took the passenger wheel off and bosh! The inner pad had fallen out and the piston was hitting the disc everytime i applied the brake.
Big thanks to Bruce for doing the brakes, managed to get home ok but i'll be needing new discs. Deffo thinking 4 pots.

Re: Ring trip October 18th-21st 2008
Great weekend, shattered like all, early night and work in morning. Car made it there and back with some nice wiring for the fan :)
Need to load up some pics got 65 in total, never really take any.
Got to say thats the dodgiest pub ive been to for ages. And those shots were awful.
Anyway found a pic of shoppers driving round

Aye all good ta Adey, back about 9ish last night in convoy with Kris and Scotty. We managed to get a slightly earlier 5:35 train and it happened to port in about the same time as Kris' ferry so we hooked up in Ashford Tescos and off we pootled.
Awesome weekend peeps, massive thank you to sexy Chris Smith for arranging it for us, I can't wait to go back again. Paul said he'll upload the pics/videos later on, some of them are hysterical
Had a nice play with a 300bhp Golf GTi on the way home, he followed us into Reading services simply to ask how a 1.4 GT Turbo whooped him lol?! :agree:
Gonna feel gutted going back to work tomorrow :(
