Just ask cause really interested on what sort of power it would produce:cool:
Prob be up and running within next month once I finish the fuel and coolant lines and install the loom (done loom just sitting in bag on front seat).
Ref rolling road session yeah would like to get it mapped properly but I am not after massive power looking to hit max 240-250bhp the car will be dangerous enough.
(now waiting the crash pic's :ashamed:)

Been working on the exhaust doing it in mild so I can do it myself :D
Also took the b18ft apart this eve aswell (well head pulled off block anyway) I have also removed the Lc-1 and DB gauge and changed afr setup and am now using the Innovate MTX L setup:agree:

Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
Well suppose a bit of an update currently working under the car managed to sort accelerator cable setup out, also done the coolant piperun, just need to finish the fuel lines, am making some under car supports so that the coolant lines don't drop and hit the floor:eek:
I also tested out my wiring in the bay :scared: well put the battery on for the first time and no fires had the fire extinguisher hand as well  and no bad smell's of burning either loaded up the ole dell lappy opened Wari on uploaded a 1.8t 20v base map that I have been working on to the e420c. Went to crank the engine (remember no fuel so she won't fire up which is good as it's priming engine with oil) she cranked away nicely no horrible knocks or bangs at all.
Went to calibrate TPS I think I may have a wire wrong here as nothing showing on Wari will look at that in next couple of days all looking good hopefully be running in next couple of weeks well idleing anyway and revving as I still need to work out clutch cable setup as the current 2 std gtt cable's is not going to work I need to work out which VW/ seat setup I need to use and then buy the extended gear stick cable's as well thanks to Handy for the info in a previous post in this thread.
Have a vid not very interesting just the ole girl cranking over

Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
the cable sleeve lengths i ordered were-
big eye end =3120mm
small eye end =2950mm
there was also 140mm total rod travel added per cable.

Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
Hi all progress is a little slow lack of enthusiasm but been working on the wiring again tonight due to a few teething problems TPS sensor wired and calibrated:D. Still having a few minor issues's which I will resolve over this week in that I can’t get it run, engine crank’s over perfectly fine on the starter, the fuel pump activates and primes. I will check spark over next couple of days when I next play with the car and a couple of other thing's to check are crank sensor wiring, ignition coil live not connected
I have also managed to wire in the original AGU TB so that I can use the built in stepper motor and TPS within it seems to have been successful alot of the vw conversion boys remove this in favor of a 3 pin only TB for TPS only.
VW Throttle body TPS and Stepper/ICV
Wiring pin details if anyone else does this in the future are as below (image below of pin’s):
Pin 1 – Throttle Open – 12v ignition live feed,
Pin 2 – Throttle Closed – GND connect to e420c Aux 3 "Idle Control" PWM enabled 200mhz,
Pin 3 - Signal for idle motor Movement – connect to e420c Dig in 1 as a digital Input and select as "Closed Loop",
Pin 4 – TPS +5v
Pin 5 – TPS Signal
Pin 6 - Not USED
Pin 7 - TPS GND
Pin 8 – Not USED (TPS Signal with small range)
Coil Pack 3 pin VW style
I have also retained the original 3 pin VW coil packs using the original external Bosch 0227100211 ignition amplifier as per attached wired to the e420c. Can anyone just confirm if this looks ok, thinking about my wiring I have missed out the coil pack ignition live so will sort.
Pin 1 trigger - Goes to Bosch ignition ignitor
Pin 4a Yellow / brown - Earthed to cam cover (std untocuhed 10mm bolt on cam cover):
Pin 15 Black / purple - Ignition Live
I am also going to check my engine crank sensor wiring to make sure I used the correct 2 wires out of the 3 I could use.
VW 1.8t 20v Crank sensor G28
The extra one is the shield wire, earth that to the same place as the common ground for all the other sensors or a suitable good earth point nearby. Pins: use 2&3 doesn't really matter which way around
1 - shield
2 - sensor
3 - sensor
For standalone only 2 wires are required these are pins 2 and 3 can go either way round
Injector outputs should be:
Inj 1 on ECU - Cyl 1
Inj 2 on ECU - Cyl 3
Inj 3 on ECU - Cyl 4
Inj 4 on ECU - Cyl 2
ECU coil control
Ign 1 drives coil’s for cylinders 1 & 4
Ign 2 drives coil’s for cylinders 2 & 3
Edit - Added Correct Coil pack wiring diag also the VW idle motor does not work with Adaptronic so will pick up a std 3 pin type like a valver version.

Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
IGN 1 should drive 1 & 4 james.

Cheers Chris how embarrasing :ashamed::laugh: I can't remember how I wired them up i think they might be 1 & 4 together under Ign 1. Easy enough to check so will double check that.
How does my diag look other than Ign 1 & 2 being wrong on the previous diag I have attached an amended one :D
Pic of Apexi RSM fitted was going to use this to get around speedo but it would appear I have kph version :crap: so this will be up for sale has the G sensor extra aswell.
Innovate MTX-L in place aswell.
I also need to speak with Phoneix Autosport about flocking as you will see the dash switches are coming off  and i Haven't even used the car it's not as if anything touches the dash either so need there advices's as to what I can use to stick it back down with:agree:
Thing's left to do.
Await new Bosch 211 Ignition Ignitior,
New mounts for fuel tank,
Fuel tank outlet fitting to be alloy welded,
Extended Gearstick cables,
Work out clutch cable setup and which VW group one I need,
Replace interior,
Sort some kind of Speedo out or do what Scoff done.

Not much of an update other than alot of re-wiring of loom, now looks like I have incorrect firing order as back firing.
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps95e8a9b3.jpg
Anyway
brand New OE headlights (Many thanks Arthur aka Tutuur),
Some new rear glass badges,
Also a little 20v decal on lower tailgate trim

Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
Still can't get the car to spark really getting on my tits now prob didn't help battery was pretty flat. So I gave up and decided to actually make some progress on the car I finally finished the exhaust system off last night just need to finish the silencer support bracket to which I am thinking of of mounting it to the subframe so I or another owner can drop the engine complete with all still attached.
The to do list is getting smaller
Gearstick cables extending,
Spray Grill,
Alloy weld fuel tank for outlet,
Re-do rear engine mount,
Re-fit interior (clio black carpet, and OE seats and seatbelts for now),
Source Golf mk3 1.3 non self ratcheting clutch cable (early version),
Get the car to spark,
Do a base map,
Full mapping aiming for around 250bhp
So tempted to sell lack of enthusiasm and lack of time as doing so many thanks with the kids / family. Anyone interested drop me a pm with a sensible offer I do have a price in mind as it is or a runner.

Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
This is great. Looks so cool :) well done. Lot of hard work there.
-
Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
You've done it again!
Looks like it's just got out of the factory :smokin:
-
Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
This is looking great.
Why is it with these projects that enthusiasm always seems to falter when the to-do list really starts to shorten. :( The devil is always in the detail.
-
Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
Looks rubish. Put the b18ft back in:cooter:
-
Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
Come on James, as soon as u get spark you will feel good about it again. Hang in there.
-
Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
Did you try doing what I said with the electrics to get a spark at all mate and to save the coil packs at the same time
-
Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
its looking so good James - and surely the hard work is done now?!
Stick with it mate, it'll be blinding once you drive it:agree:
-
Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
Get on with the clutch/box issues & get the other little bits sorted next, then think about the spark again after... worst case it will have to go to Chris for a new loom & a map...

Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
Picked up a black clio carpet today that I am going to retro fit into the 5 also.
The to do list is getting shorter, in the meantime if anyone whom is good with electrics want's to come down and assist me would be much appreciated as the wiring is what is testing my patience:cry:
p.s. I tested my ECU and it's giving out the correct value's according to my multimeter so problem is wiring or I have the timing setting's incorrect on WARI:crap:
-
Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
If you pay my trip i would be more then happy to help out :D
-
Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
That's more like it m8! Like Steve said, can u do all the mechanical stuff and then trailer to scoff for a little wiring and mapping?
-
Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
You'll love it again when you do get it to fire up, although I would be interested to know what it would sell for :D would certainly save me the time doing a turbo conversion on the Clio
-
Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
Is there no way of putting it on std management and loom just to see if it fires up?

You could always start fresh with a new loom, I think Chris sells bare looms for around £100.... I would 'try' to help out as the diagrams are pretty straight forward.
Or, can Chris make up a loom for you ??
-
Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
just a slight update I picked up a black carpet and centre console the other day to hopefully finish of the interior as the grey carpet in the 5 had seen better day's.
I am also going to look at the lack of spark next week aswell so one less thing to do

I wish the ECU is locked and I don't have the original keys or Dash clocks if I did that would be possible.
Don't suppose anyone down south has access to a timing light?

Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
Well left with the full family and trailer not long after 7 and took over 4hrs to get to James :-( took the kids to the seaside for a couple of hours and a 30min drive each way was more like an hour. Then over 5hrs to get home.
Long long day!!! Traffic down south is shocking
Fair to say 2.5 year old and 12 week old loved the long time in the car....not!
Sorted trailer out, cold beer
Day done lol
Full on with getting chassis back together on vx220 for body shop but have a closer look at the weekend at what's needed
Thanks James :agree:

Re: B18FT Rear engined RWD 5GTT (Scoff old 5)
With finishing the tfsi k04 conversions in the vx220's im flat out atm and not even taken the car off the trailer :coffee:
Had a 5 min look around and suspect I will not be able to help doing a bare shell build up and try to improve a few things, im a funny fecker and like things a certain way now I am old and grumpy :scared:
Now if its powered by the newer tfsi beasite or even hybrid between that and the 20Vt head on standalone or drop another engine in the front is not clear yet  dont want to spend loads on turbos etc
May look to get rid of the skoda vrs and use it as a daily but will not really be touching the car until winter
Guess I will get it running quickly as is and get a feel for how the car drives - as a drag / show car 600+ bhp and 4wd would be a laugh, may see what bigger engines fit for also - :cooter:
Dont want to give too much away just yet - will just crack on and share once something intersting has happened
