Re: OLA Reddie F7R Engine Transfer Project
thx kial matey, im having a mare with this car, been outside all day, got the dp and stay fitted correctly went to fit oil filter but couldn't get on as the pipes wouldn't let me fit it then I removed rad and still couldn't do it so again something needs modding, put the gear linkage on to find gears not working so it turns out because the box fulcrum has been modded to short shift the std rod don't work but in the end I had to put it to within 5mm of end of adjustment to get it to work but could do with lengthening to work correctly but god it short to shift and god knows how short it is with the proper gear stick that ill fit later at some point, long and short of it is still not running loom will only take 30 mins to connect anyways ill up some pics later

Sounds like your going through the hassle I was a couple of weeks ago. Take your time tick things of the list one by one and you'll soon be ahead of things 👍

1, plug laptop to ecu and see if it reads temp.
2, same as above then check wiring.
3, there no cold start map on the ecu.

:agree:
1) Temp sensor for dash is just a case of extending the original GTT orange and green wires to the 2nd square sensor on the thermostat housing you may have to swap wires around but that's as simple as that. Your ECU is clearly getting a temp reading as you said the rad fan's been kicking in and out so it's been controlling the rad fan correctly.
2) Rev counter on the 420c uses the IGN 3 (Blue wire from ECU) B1 on diagram attached all this needs to connect to is the grey wire from the original AEI connection this will give signal to the rev counter if set correct in the ECU file (setting for this is located under the Trigger settings screen Ignition 3 should be set to Tachometer 50%. Ill get a pic of mine later for you.
3)Could be due to the cold start map lacking as Goobie has said but then you have said the rad fan has been kicking in and out so one would assume it's up to temp, Air leak? (vacuum pipe, inlet gasket, ICV possibly not functioning fully needs cleaning, broken 1 way valve's?
All the above are easy fixes just a case of tracing.
Well done for getting it running though Mick :agree: Your post is no good without pic's or a video:agree:

Re: OLA Reddie F7R Engine Transfer Project
thanx guys tbh the car started and ticked straight over when cold the problem was once it was warm, this bloody rain is relentless ive got so much to do
1. front discs and pads
2. fix temp gauge ive ordered new temp sensor ill put wires to other sensor to check gauge works
3. fix rev counter this is weird ive wired ign3 the blue wire to the grey aei wire but rev counter don't work
4. fix batter light the alternator is charging but theres no light on dash
5. rework the dp as ive got a big leak at flange where it don't mate at the correct angle
6. sort hunting I think this is because ive used silicone hose on the servo pipe
overall im happy its started but need to mot before Tuesday as the tax runs out and car will get clamped so a lot of pressure atm, failing this it will need to be towed to mikes garage in Worthing which will be a pain in the fecking arse
but no water or oil leaks and turbo spins on tick over lol:laugh:
https://youtu.be/_BOwCT9JJt0
oh and clean out car its a sh1t tip atm, is also pink too:crap:

Luckily the issues you have are nothing to major to sort, with regards to the alternator light on dash that's to do with the purple wire on top of the alternator, it should be working as I only removed the original rad fan wires, perc fan wires, oil pressure and level wires from the original loom the rest is as it was

got massive water leak from the plastic bodge I made ive gone with something similar to kials but need to fit
dp is deffo at wrong angle at flange too, but now running sweet as a nut and very responsive on the throttle:)

Re: OLA Reddie F7R Engine Transfer Project
what a epic day again nothing has gone right tbh started at 11.30 and walked in at 7.30 so I thought I better get this water leak fixed well that didn't go well at all
went down b&q last night and got a 28mm copper t anywayz after fitting the required pipes and fitted the rad which anyone will tell you is a nightmare itself it leaked :cry:after another 3 attempts still leaking:eek::eek: I really wanted to hang mike today:ashamed: anyways after another nip to b&q for a different 28mm smooth t pipe and another 3 attempts it seems to have stopped leaking, this car is beginning to be like james it didn't like c1j being removed anywayz ive left off oil filter and ill wait to see if water stays in same position, I hope it does now....
anyways just need to do dp now which ill probably try and do Monday ready for mot Tuesday, I was going to do surrey meet in it but im not trusting it till its had more testing:agree::agree:
ill grab some pics etc when im next working on it, im not a picture whore like james and goobie as you can see from this thread lol:laugh:

Pictures or NEVER HAPPEN!... :cooter:
Ref: Surrey meet, I don't blame you, fair old trip for a first test run. I know you need to sort the down pipe, but that aside, how's the exhaust note/sound?

Re: OLA Reddie F7R Engine Transfer Project
god this car keeps biting started today and its hunting again, I accidentally found out by taking the temp ecu wire off it sorted the issue but this aint a major issue as ive bypassed it atm, the problem ive got is the temp gauge on dash isn't working, away ive driven it and its very responsive few bits to do to finish now but it drives :agree:
-
Re: OLA Reddie F7R Engine Transfer Project
Come on Mick, well over due update needed here........... :coffee:
-
Re: OLA Reddie F7R Engine Transfer Project

Goobie, it's very nearly done Mick's just got to fit the new rad and sort a boost pipe (As popped off) and it's ready to get a few hundred test miles on it then mapping again with the bigger turbo :agree: I sorted the temp sensor for ECU and dash, and played with the ecu to get it to run properly with the temp sensor on housing plugged in :-) idles very nice.

Re: OLA Reddie F7R Engine Transfer Project
End of next month been and gone buddy!!.....:cooter: Winning yet??? :)
-
Re: OLA Reddie F7R Engine Transfer Project
good point mr goobs found out alternator aint man enough so gone for same one as james also new rad, mike drove it breifly and said it went like stink on 5psi too prob about 230horse, so im fitting them then its done, but its got a very annoying judder around 1.5/2k when hot, so needs deffo mapping and slight tidy of wiring but youll get a ride soon enough goobs:laugh:
-
Re: OLA Reddie F7R Engine Transfer Project
Bit risky running about without adjusting the map isn't it.
-
Re: OLA Reddie F7R Engine Transfer Project
run on bleed valve not boost controller so wont run anymore than that lol, yep will be mapped once mikes got the money think james is taking a look on judder so least it can get some miles on it:agree:

I popped down Micks the other week, managed to swap over the old GTT rear engine mount for a new super stiff vibratechnics jobbie, (still got the front ones to fit), exhaust manifold off for new heatwrap, downpipe off for heatwrap treatment also). The car is running Mike has driven it a few times around brighton it just needs some longer distance driving.
