DevilishTrix Grandad Sleeper
Right some of you might know that i bout a volvo 480 turbo a few months ago from a fellow member from on hear for a good price, there were a few things wrong with it like dead battery, nackered earths, and a bitch of a core plug that needed replacing on the back of the head. Anyways sorted these all out and took it for its first outing, got to drive it about 2 miles when a middle aged lady decided to plough through a give way and i caved all the side of 106 in and the passenger front of the volvo.
Anyways ive been paid out know so last week me and fellow member Devilish Dave went to denton, manchester to pick up a campus, cheapy cheap. It was solid underneath but headgasket was gone, so ragged it about 2 miles onto a citroen forecourt and rang the aa for recovery. :wasntme:
This car is located in Daves garage, which is a pretty good setup, he has tools i could only dream off.
Anyways work started last week, on tuesday campus engine came out.

Yesterday, we made some larger diameter fuel lines and got them put in, exhaust taken off, flexible brake pipe to master cylinder broken :ashamed::laugh:
Lots of little bits done.

Re: DevilishTrix Grandad Sleeper
Today the b18ft was treated to a new water pump, gtt metal engine brackets put on back and side of gearbox, gtx bracket attached to the front left of block. Alternater bracket, and gtx alt tensioner bracket cut to clear the subframe. Cambelt was also checked, and the full engine was steam cleaned a couple of months ago by mr dave, cheers dude.:agree::)
Newish ,front left and right engine mounts were attached aswell as mr scoff's rear mount, this car is gonna rattle alot as the engine does not move at all now its in.

Re: DevilishTrix Grandad Sleeper
For anyone interested, the turbo is from a 200sx s14 and needed to have the oil feed position spun about 90 degrees. The water feeds from the standard volvo turbo fit straight on it ( with the one closest to the bulkhead needing to be bent towards the front of the car). Used the oil return pipe from it too:agree:
http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/z...x/a41361cd.jpg
problem is the coldside outlet is fouling on the water pipe from the back of the head.
Dont worry i have a plan, involving header tank relocation

Re: DevilishTrix Grandad Sleeper
Right took some pics today, on my rubbish camera phone. Tried to sort out the fueling a clutch issues today. It didn't go particularly well. Anyways tell me what you think out the engine layout and overall standard look of the car, a bit of thought has gone into it. http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/z...x/ebd4dce9.jpg

Just out of curiosity, is the S14 turbocharger too big to use with a C1J? If so, would an S13 unit work? :)

Re: DevilishTrix Grandad Sleeper
Sorted out the fueling for now, clutch still sliipping abit, when i do get the power down at 8psi its trying to throw me into the curb.:agree:
Im not sure how stealthy it is though as everyone turns and looks a it as it sounds like a v8. Not sure i or my neighbours can put up with the noise, the exhaust its feckin unbelievably loud, fuel pump is wirrling its brains out, pidgen is chirping its head off and everything is vibrating like a giant dido! To think i was thinking of driving this to london and back to visit the mrs at the weekend............................not a chance!:sad2::eek::eek::eek:

Pm'd you Dave.;) No cutting of the scuttle panel needed. Just had to rotate the turbo housing, used the Volvo water unions and had to bend them into a different shape. The only thing that I cut was the metal water pipe on the back of the Volvo head. It sits very close to the scuttle but because of the scoff rear engine mount there is no movement in the engine so I won't have any problems under acceleration.

New poster! (less than 10 posts)
Nice looking sleeper Trix. A mate is planning something simular and we'll hopefully be picking up a GTX with Volvo engine in-situ this weekend.
Question, what wheels have you on the Campus? I'm looking for something simular for my own bike engined 5 ( https://www.rtoc.org/boards/showthread.php?t=17828 ). I like the big radius steely look.

Re: DevilishTrix Grandad Sleeper
Hi Paul, nice project you've got going on there.:agree::agree::agree:
The 15 inch steelies were off an espace , think most renault wheels will fit, just got to get the right offset. :)
