Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
I thought it might be a good idea for everyone whos cars are off the road to make a list in this thread of there cars and whats needed to be done to get them to national day?
Maybe this way smaller problems could be sorted by local members if needed?? Or just some advice given??
My list stands at
1- Rusty windscreen panel replaced
2-Turbo rebuilt(bit smokey )
Anyone else feel free to add :agree:

-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
Build an inlet manifold.
Modify radiator.
Modify intercooler.
Pipe everything up.
Wire everything up.
FIt bonnet catches.
Hope it actually works.
Run it in.
Get Scoff to Map it.

Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
Not much to do really
-Pass another years MOT
-Find the cash for insurance
-get to and from France safely
-fit fuel bits to sort fuelling
-finally get up to Scoff's for a set up
-and try not to blow the car to bits
-fit wasted spark
-finish off screamer pipe
-fit new bumper and grill
-maybe get the P-s1uts a diamond cut refurb
-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
- Check Cam timing and possibly fit vernier if needed.
- Weld baffled sump and fit.
- Investigate the options available for installing a better or additional silencer to the sidey.
- Change the grill to an unmolested one.
- Take the roofrack and 2 internal doors off the top (she's a worker!)
- Buff me plumbs.
- Evoke some enthusiasm from local members.
That's it
-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
:D hmmm after yesterdays track day my cam timing also seemed to be a bit too retarded. seemed to really start pulling around 5-5500 which is bit too high.
1- Rusty windscreen panel replaced
2-Turbo rebuilt(bit smokey )
3-Check/adjust cam timing.

Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?

-source various parts to try and get another quick clean minter
Unless anyone is selling a good mint condition one which saves me half my time :agree:
-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
Fit new brake lines
Change rear pads
Decide wether to fit roll cage or not
Fit pace inter cooler
Fit gt2860r turbo
Fit 285 cam and springs
I'll probably only get the brake lines done by then.
-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
lol, sometimes it can take an age to get things done. Best way is to book some time to it and crack on :agree: i got my turbo off today, not much play which foxed me a little, but rear is wet with oil, I ran the engine without the turbo, no smoke but i did notice that the oil drain couldnt get rid of the oil that was being pumped out the feed pipe, i think the turbo bearing restriction will probably slow the flow enough tho.

2 Attachment(s)
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
My rocker cover wasnt quite sealing so whipped it off and knocked out the holes, they had caved in slightly on each one.
-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
Change gearbox
Change clutch
Bigger turbo
Remap
Valver wide track conversion
Tracking and alignment
Roll cage
-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
Well i can cross one thing off my list, got my fogs working :agree:

-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
wish my fogs worked :( thats a little to do list that never gets looked at.
As long as the steerings connected to the wheels along with some form of engine driving them and a bit of braking from somewhere then im happy :agree:
-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
Need to fix my turbo or replace and fit a front mount intercooler
-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
perfect opportunity to weld your wastegate shut and fit a external :D save the money of a new turbo plus more power :)
-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
retrieve new block from machine shop and fit pistons
find a head and get it sorted
bolt everything back onto the engine inc all shiny new service items etc
put engine in car
sort exhaust system out
drive the nuts off it :-)
that's the succinct version, may involve tad more work than that!

Sounds good to me....... makes me realise how many massive projects are going on lol
-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
where do i start......
1.) cut adaptronic loom in half and add a connector in the engine bay so i can remove the engine and leave the ecu and loom in the car
2.)fit turbo teds old T34 and external wastegate, remake downpipe with a 3" flex so it dont crack again. fit 500cc injectors fit v8 rear engine mount, fit jc5 gearbox so i can have a speedo with programmable boost
3.)paint the inside of the car floor in digital Camouflage
4.) get some /make DOOR CARDS!!!! front and rear just flat ones and wrap them in a rat look/comic book look
5.)put in my cobra evolution seats and harnesses
6.) strip the lacquer off my ronal turbos and mirror polish
im sure this list will get bigger, ive just cut out 2 carryer bags of wiring out my valver dash conversion (central locking, radio, electric windows ect) and integrated switched live feeds and constant feeds for my adaprtronic its just when i did my minimalistic wiring in the engine bay i made the hole for the loom so small i cant pull it through the scuttle panel  so hence me putting a durite 20 pin plug in the engine bay.
-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
I need to get my dash out....... really cant be bothered removing the cage tho, think i may just chop the dash up........... any recomendations people? its a safety devices cage.

Thanks mate. I took two weeks holiday to do the work among other things.
It never stops tho, just purchased an uprated bosch fuel pump from simply-automotive to go on and then the fun of jetting the carb using the afr meter begins.
-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
:) its not so bad doing the 2nd stage, not alot u can do really, 1.2 1.3 1.4 my air corrector wouldnt come out without some brutality so i just left it lol
-
Re: Work needed before Renault Turbo Festival?
Something that amazed me as a first time afr gauge user is how we all think the standard carb will fuel for 1bar on a standard engine. Im running 10psi for now with air filter/exhaust/hybrid turbo and im lean at wot in 3rd/4th (13.6/13.8) i would hate to put an afr meter on a standard car with average mileage.
