my next plans are lift up the back end, fit a new standard front slam panel bumper
and grill. new back bumper, tidy up the engine bay and get the auto sol out lol. new t2/t25 turbo. mint all the body work and fit my new door cards.
I have now moved on with my project and over the last few weeks been spending the cash. The car is currently in the bodyshop having a full respray in the original black paint after being to the panel beaters where i had new inner and outer sills new bumper fixing points front and rear, new slam panel, all new fixing points on front and rear wings for arches. I have bought all new panels, front and rear bumpers, ront and rear arches, new sideskirts and new bonnet and all new fixing clips and rubbers. I have also had the tacky petrol cap removed from the boot and put back in the original place on the rear quarter. I have bought all new lights including fogs and indicators. I have also bought a few new parts from gt tuning, the dump valve, spider valve, in car boost valve. I have spent £4000 lol. but its all worth it restoring one of these gt turbos. here are a few pics of the project.

Re: My Renault 5 GT Turbo restoration
hi thanks for looking. if any of u guys know anything about the car could u pm me would love to hear the history of the car. i bought it off a mate but then fell out so never knew where he got it from. when i bought it the paint job wasnt matt was shiny but looked like it had recently had a spray job but a crap one and the cills were nackerd so all had to be redone costing me 2600 . i have heard a few tales about the car but dnt know how true also the reg plate could have been sold on. i heard on renault5gtturbo.com apparently a former owner ripped ppl off on here and was banned and also someone said they thought it was written off but it had no signs whatsoever of being in a bump and i hpi'd it and checked all vin numbers. all the chassis is straight and solid etc. so would appreciate anything anyone knows. thanks
Re: My Renault 5 GT Turbo restoration

Pretty sure it's the same car mate.. same wheels, double exhaust, colour, and general mods.. It was definitely in an accident, but I don't know if it was recorded. I saw it mid repair - it was the drivers side rear quarter / axle.
But yeh, you've made it much better!
Re: My Renault 5 GT Turbo restoration
Did Haz not have this car for a while ? It was not in an accident when I seen it ,bric when did u see it or who did u know who had it ? Put this way mcqueen lved that car
Re: My Renault 5 GT Turbo restoration
It was the guy who ripped everyone off that damaged it.. Rozza. Lived in Alty in a big house with a Range Rover and electric gates, yet he came on here to rip people off :crap:
I saw it with my own two eyes when I went to his house after he damaged it.
Yeh Matt it was at nocturnal at one point, after Rozza sold it
Re: My Renault 5 GT Turbo restoration
That one belonged to a guy in manchester somewhere, who had the accident that bric describes. He was also banned from the club for one reason or another. It had that awfull "matt" paint job, which was done when he repaired the accident damage. It also had the fuel filler smoothed over and the filler cap inside the boot if I recall!
Re: My Renault 5 GT Turbo restoration
yeh the filler cap was smoothed over and the fuel pipe turrned round into the boot so dug this out and had it put back to original. not sure how bad the rear quarter damage could have been as most of the car was sanded to bare metal and there was no sign of the rear quarter creased. does anyone know if any of the former owners are members on here? maybe i could ask them about the history of the car. it looks ten times better now than it did cant wait to get it out but looking like next summer now dont want the wet and salt to hit it as we get alot of gritting out where we are.
Re: My Renault 5 GT Turbo restoration
"rozza" lol says it all really!:wasntme: mind you tho accidents do happen!!;)
Re: My Renault 5 GT Turbo restoration
i remember this car.... looks miles better these days...:)

Blimey a 2600 paint job, whats so special about the car, would it not have been cheaper to buy one with a good paint finish already?
Re: My Renault 5 GT Turbo restoration
Ive had a scan through all my old pics of the Yorkshire meets when McQueen owned it but cant find any photo's... I do have a few vids of it whizzing past but nothing that shows it in detail :( It was one of the cleanest 5's back in the day I'm sure someone like KD of Jaffa will have a load of pics of it!
I'm glad its back to its former glory, you've done a remarkable job :agree:

For welding in new sills etc, then a full respray.. thats pretty reasonable assuming its been done correctly.
Re: My Renault 5 GT Turbo restoration

Re: My Renault 5 GT Turbo restoration
