Hello Folks,

As you can probably tell, meet title is Andy's idea. Object of the day is to share detailing
tips and have a go with new potions and some detailing tools. The meet will be in
Lowestoft, with the Fighting Cocks PH being our focal point. Start time will be 11am.
I'll arrange for the pub to provide us with some ploughman's lunches.

NOTE: This might become a bit of a moveable feast in that we will need a fine day!
If the forecasts indicate indifferent weather, the meet could be put back a week.

Some demos will be carried out in the pub car park. From there we'll move to my own
premises where we'll have access to leccy driven tools. In the limited space available
we'll only have space for two "mules" at a time. The purpose of putting up this thread
early is not only to guage interest, but to find out what types of cleaning you want to
achieve.

Certainly, I've heard mention of seat cleaning, so there'll be a steam cleaner on hand.
If this applies to you, then please bring some scotch-gard spray with you.

I have one or two other plans up my sleeve, but I need to talk to some people first.

I will need to limit the number of attendees to 10. This is mostly for safety reasons due
to the restricted amount of space. If my additional plans come to fruition, then I'll review
that maximum number.

If any of this interests you, please copy and paste this list with your name added...

P.S. If there's sufficient interest in this meet, I could be talked into arranging another
group meet at a professional detailers studio - based in NW Suffolk and within reach of
the Cambridge massive too... :niceone:

Great idea for a meet. :)

I just finished my own session of intense turd polishing this afternoon. The Mrs' Focus being said turd. Still, came out great since I spent all summer working at the paint and then building wax layers. :agree:

OK, so this will now be a full "hands on" day. I've spoken to Karl, who is doing my resto
work, and his mate Jason, who does bodywork at the same premises, about the day
and they are keen to get involved. This means that the upper attendance limit can rise
to 20.

With Karl being an indie Renault specialist, he's known my R5 since I first bought it,
here's an opportunity to not just talk the talk. With access to an airline, it means that
some specialist cleaning with a tornador (google it) can also be done. The only
stipulation being that you equip yourself with some decent goggles and maybe some
industrial rubber gloves, if you want to clean small parts. It's absolutely safety first,
especially as we are guests!

Both my garage and Karl & Jason's workshop are within easy walking distance of the
pub. Being that we'll be using their car park, please play fair and patronise it by buying
a ploughman's lunch. If there is support for this kind of meet, we will want to return.

Over to you guys...

Regards,
Steve

 Brilliant

Steve I feel my hand being forced here bud, and I'm happy with that :agree: So I'll get that date in the diary and spread the TNT word. If you want to kick off with Fluffy on the day that's fine, but stay away from the near side unless I've managed to spray it in the mean time - otherwise it may be over to Carl and his partner in crime to sort out LOL.

Nice one on the event - it's a great direction.

I can move it back to the 12th - but not forward - 1st April is when I'm planning to put
my R5 back on the road.

Ummmmmmmm, nope. The idea is that you, and everyone else, get some hands on
experience. Finding out how incredibly easy some of the techniques are, brings with them
an inner satisfaction of a job well done. Much the same as when you start a rebuilt engine
for the first time, only much quicker, cheaper and with fewer chewed fingers. :p

So, any Mods reading this. Can you please change the date in the thread title to
12th April. (Beyond the 19th - the fallback date if weather is bad - I'm not able to host
until end of May)

Steve

LOL - The sarcasm didn't get as far as Suffolk I see, I'd love to do this, if only to see how easy it really is. The choice of both techniques, methods and products is enough to put anybody off before you've even begun.
This is a great place to start.

Will have to see what the calendar of doom holds for that weekend, but pub lunch & beer is really all the motivation I need

Probably won't have anything to clean unless I bring the family wagon, the most attention that gets is one bucket. I have been toying with the idea of a de tar, clay and polish but can't be arsed :coffee:

LMNO, not too many indicators of either sarcasm or irony. Anyway, consider yourself told! :dearme:

Just get your names down guys - I'm intending for a day of "Wows!"

I wonder how many of you will admit to _not_ browsing every single page of this really
inspirational thread (http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=182810). Similar era car, I believe...

The 11 defo, so rare to see one, let alone one that's made to look like new.

I did for a laugh consider bringing the 9 would be more of a challenge for them but they need a month or two to make that look good lol.

Meet Postponed

Hello Folks,

Sadly, with so little take-up, I've no choice but to postpone this meet until later in
the year. I am a little disappointed though, because I was involving at least 4
other people to provide various bits of guidance. With only 3 potential attendees,
that amount of work by others outside of RTOC just makes this not viable.

Sorry :(

Steve

That's a shame Steve when you have gone to all that trouble. Probably be better off in the summer though?
Seems like a pretty good thing to do as lot people into making car looking as good as possible!

This is a great idea for a meet, but.... RTOC never has and probably never will be detail-friendly
Saying that, I'd still be interested in coming along. After doing it for around 4 years and more cars than you can shake a shakey thing at, I think I could help out a little :)
